Just For Kids
People forget that kids get pancreatic diseases, too. And sometimes what kids need differs from what grown up people need. But since a lot of grown ups forget what it’s like to be a kid, they don’t always know how to help. If you don’t believe us, take it from Lauren. She is 10 and has had pancreatitis since she was a baby. She knows what it’s like to be a kid and deal with her illness. To see Lauren’s list of things that help her, please click here.

What is a pancreas, anyway? Could you live without one? These are good questions, which Dr. David Whitcomb and his researchers at the Pancreatic Studies Office at the University of Pittsburgh talk about in their column called Kid's Corner, which is regularly published in their newsletter, PEaRL. (PEaRL stands for "Pancreas Education and Research Letter.") You can read their articles by clicking on the links below. If you’ve been wondering what it is that a pancreas does and whether or not you need one, read on!
